The Centru Court of Chișinău ordered on April 17, 2018, the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) and the Publika TV station to issue a retraction of the information that “the work of the StarNet Company has been illegal since the beginning of 2011, when the BCC withdrew its retransmission authorization.”

According to the court’s judgment, the retraction needs to appear in a Publika TV newscast within 15 days from the entry into force of the judgment. The judgment can be challenged in the Chișinău Court of Appeal within 30 days from its pronouncement.
In May 2014, Marcel Oțel, a representative of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC), said in a Publika TV program that the BCC had withdrawn the StarNet Company’s authorization for paid television services in 2011, and that since then the company had been working illegally, because it has no right to provide such services to its clients.

Subsequently, StarNet complained to the court, saying that the statement of the BCC representative was false and that it damaged the company’s professional reputation. As a result, the company filed a civil lawsuit against the BCC.
