The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection is announcing that it will hold an online press conference with the participation of journalists on Friday, 1 May. The message follows the repeated appeal sent to the authority by the Journalists’ Crisis Cell, set up by the Independent Journalism Center.

According to the Ministry's press service, the online conference will present the situation regarding Covid-19 pandemic in the country, and media representatives will be able to ask questions. The editorial offices are advised to choose one representative, who will participate in the conference. Each participant will be able to ask no more than two questions.

According to the Ministry of Health, such online conferences will be organized weekly.

The Journalists’ Crisis Cell, set up by the IJC in order to demand from authorities transparency and access to information during the state of emergency, sent on 13 April a joint request to the Ministry, signed by 25 media organizations and outlets. As a result of this request, the Ministry committed to hold extended format conferences once a week, which has not happened. Previously, the Journalists’ Crisis Cell sent an appeal requesting the institution to observe its commitment towards the media.
