Editor-in-chief of the SP newspaper from Balti proposed by the Presidency for the position of member of the BC

Moldovan President Maia Sandu proposed the candidacy of journalist Ruslan Mihalevschi from the SP newspaper to the position of member of the Broadcasting Council (BC). The proposal was sent to the Parliamentary Commission for Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and the Media, according to a press release of the presidential office.

Ruslan Mihalevschi is editor-in-chief of the SP newspaper from Balti, where he has been active for about 20 years. He also collaborates with media organizations in Moldova as an expert in the field and participated in the elaboration of several studies on the state of the press in our country, including in the Transnistrian region. Since 2016, he collaborates with the international project OPEN Media Hub (support program for media professionals from the EU neighboring countries), being responsible for the field of social media in the Russian language.

Ruslan Mihalevschi is a graduate of the State University of Moldova, where he specialized in history.

The BC consists of seven members appointed for a six-year term. Three are proposed by parliamentary factions, two by civil society organizations, one by the Presidency, and one by the Government. Last week, the Government proposed Liliana Vițu as a member of the BC.
