Journalist Nicolae Negru as host of the 48th edition of the “Media Azi” show spoke with journalist Vlad Turcanu, former member of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) and spokesman of the former president of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, about the legislative initiative of the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) on securing Moldova’s information space.

The DPM’s initiative envisages combating foreign propaganda by banning retransmission of informational, analytical and military programs from countries that have not ratified the European Convention of Transfrontier Television, including the Russian Federation.

From the show you can find out what TV stations will be affected by the democrats’ draft law, what penalties it stipulates for violations of national legislation, including repeated violations.

You can also see what interlocutors think about the methods of fighting foreign propaganda, used in such EU countries as the Baltic States, Poland and Romania. Find out why, in the opinion of Vlad Turcanu, the creation of a public Russian television in Estonia did not have the expected effect of combating Russian propaganda.

Will the Broadcasting Coordinating Council, which is created, according to participants in the discussion, based on political criteria, manage to thus end media manipulation coming from outside? What about domestic propaganda? What impact could an eventual law on securing the information space of Moldova have and how determined the European Union is to support the fight against propaganda and fakes in media?
