The Broadcasting Council (BC) has announced the contest for filling two vacancies of member of the Supervisory Board of Teleradio-Moldova (SB TRM) for persons residing outside Chisinau Municipality. According to the BC, two current members’ terms of office are expiring soon.

Violeta Cojocaru, President of the Supervisory Board, informed the BC that, on May 26, the terms of office of members Veaceslav Vlad and Alexandru Vasilache will expire. According to the legislation, at least three representatives of administrative territorial units other than Chisinau Municipality need to be appointed the SB members.

The new members shall be appointed for six years. The BC representatives recommended TRM to publicize the contest.

Documents for the contest must be filed within 30 days from the publication of the Board’s decision to announce the contest in the “Monitorul Oficial”. The deadline for filing the documents will be subsequently published on the BC website.

On January 29, the BC elected professor Victor Borsevici, activist Dumitru Roibu, and entrepreneur Alexandru Versinin as the new members of the SB TRM. Some opposition deputies claimed that the broadcasting authority had elected those members due to political connotations, which was denied by the institution’s management.

According to the legislation, the SB TRM consists of 9 members, public figures who have professional qualifications in the spheres of journalism, law, public relations, international relations, culture, cinema, financial management and business management, information and communication technology, academic activity, mass media, and engineering.
