Media NGOs express concern over repeated cases of violence against journalists and interference with their work of gathering information when they are on duty.

Thus, on Monday, May 30, several online portals posted a video about the incident that took place in the Great National Assembly Square after a press conference held by the leaders of the DA Platform: Vadim Ungureanu, journalist for Today.md, was pushed and verbally abused by a person from the entourage of DA leadership.

It should be mentioned that according to the Criminal Code, intentional obstruction of activities of mass media or a journalist, as well as their intimidation for criticism, are considered socially dangerous acts and are punished in accordance with this Code.

Also, according to the Contraventions Code of Moldova, offensive approach to an individual in public places is qualified as an act of hooliganism and is subject to punishment.

We ask the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take note of this case, undertake the necessary measures, and inform the public about the results of their investigation.
