Journalist Natalia Morari won ‘Pavel Sheremet’ International Award, offered by the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum for the effort to develop TV8 channel. The official award ceremony took place today, 11 December, in Tbilisi.

‘I am now in Tbilisi, at the Parliament of Georgia, where I will receive ‘Pavel Sheremet’ Award at the 10th Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. That wouldn’t have been possible without our TV8 team. ‘Regardless of the award I’ll won – it’s about her and for her’, Natalia Morari wrote on her Facebook page.

The award is offered for the third time and honours the Ukrainian investigative journalist Pavel Sheremet, killed in 2016 following a bomb attack. During his career, the journalist was a fierce critic of the Kremlin, but also of the leader of Minsk, Alexandr Lukasenko. In 1997, Sheremet received a two-year prison sentence in Belarus, accused of having received money from foreign intelligence.

‘Pavel Sheremet’ Award honours the courage in journalism and the remarkable achievements in promoting media freedom in the Eastern Europe region.
