According to organizers, the event gathered about 500 participants, mostly from Moldova. “The first day of the conference is dedicated mainly to online journalism – journalists and future journalists will learn how to use online databases in investigations. They will also find out about new ways to attract online audiences. On the second day of the conference, entrepreneurship-related issues will be discussed, and participants will be initiated in the techniques of launching an independent media portal,” Rockit PR manager Mariana Balaban told Media Azi.
One of the conference’s goals is to create partnerships between Moldovan and western journalists. To achieve that, participants have the possibility to download a Rockit Summit telephone application, which enables discussions with anyone of those present at the event. The western experience will allow Moldovan journalists to modernize online products. “The West has for a long time now adopted new trends in online journalism, which could be adopted in Moldova, too,” Mariana Balaban added.
The summit features 25 local and international speakers, including Sarah Frank (Executive Producer, NowThis, USA), Dragos Stanca (Managing partner, ThinkDigital, Romania), Adam Harell (President, Nebo Agency, USA), Eugen Boico (GD, Publicis, Moldova), etc.
Rockit Regional Digital Communication Summit 2016 was organized in partnership with the Granat Advertising Agency from Moldova and the Digicomnet Community from the USA.
