Over 200 People Registered for the Media Forum 2017

More than 200 people registered for participation in the Media Forum 2017, including journalists and media managers, students, teachers from journalism faculties, communicators, bloggers, representatives of public structures, and other interested people. From all these applicants, organizers will select 150 participants of the Forum. The list of participants will be published on Friday on the website of the Media Forum 2017.

Ambassadors of the European Union, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament and the representatives of non-governmental media organizations will speak at the opening of the Forum. The opening part will be followed by a debate on the topic “Fake News, Information Manipulation and Trust in the Media” with the participation of experts and officials from Moldova and from abroad. Also on the first day of the Forum, three master classes for professionals from television, radio, online and print media will be given by foreign experts – two experts from the Deutsche Welle Academie in Germany, Andrey Gurkov and Mirko Lorenz, and the editor of a successful Polish newspaper, Piotr Piotrowicz. At the end of the first day of the Forum, two side events will be held – one on the topic of fact checking, with the Romanian expert Ovidiu Vanghele, and one on crowdfunding for the media, with Linor Goralik, expert from Israel.

On the second day of the Forum, American journalist Kevin Z. Smith will make a presentation on the future of journalism, followed by four workshops, moderated by media experts from Moldova, to discuss the problems in journalists’ work, and a special workshop on monetization of news and information websites, moderated by expert Ilya Krasilshchik, founder of the Meduza.io platform (Latvia).

At the last session of the Media Forum 2017, a resolution and possible additions to the Roadmap for the development of the media in Moldova will be approved. Approved documents will be sent to Moldovan authorities, foreign representative offices and embassies, European and international organizations and experts who monitor the democratic development of Moldova, other interested persons and institutions.
