Public Debate: „On Amending and Supplementing the Law on Access to Information: Between Progress and Regress”

The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) is inviting journalists from local and national media outlets, including from the Transnistrian region and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, to the public debate “On Amending and Supplementing the Law on Access to Information: Between Progress and Regress.”

The event will involve discussion of the draft law on amending and supplementing Law no. 982-XVI of May 11, 2000 on Access to Information, registered by a group of independent MPs on March 11, 2016 and voted in the first reading by the Parliament on July 28. The amendments to this draft law proposed by the Government will also be discussed.

Invitees of the event are representatives of the Parliament and the Government; members of the Parliamentary Commission on culture, education, youth, sport and mass media; representatives of the Commission on legal issues, appointments and immunities; experts in mass media; media owners; editors; journalists; opinion leaders.

The debate will take place on October 6, beginning at 10.00, in Chisinau at the following address: 49/3 Tighina Street, “Summit Events & Conference Center”, “Blue” room.
