A member of Teleradio-Moldova Supervisory Board (TRM SB) requested to postpone a SB meeting held online until it could be broadcast live; however, this suggestion was rejected. During the meeting, a report on the TRM’s activity for the first semester of 2021 was examined.

Larisa Calugaru requested to postpone the meeting from August 5 until the day when the event could be broadcast live. She suggested that the Board’s meetings could be broadcast live by Teleradio-Moldova employees or via a live-streaming service, mentioning the recommendation from the Broadcasting Council in this context. “I suggest that the company, first of all, ensure transparency, broadcast this meeting, and it could be postponed until it is technically possible. It’s not a big deal for us. It would certainly be a shame to invite Privesc.eu for this purpose, but if we have no other possibility... We must ensure transparency the way the BC, the Court of Accounts, the NIA, etc. do. I suggest that we postpone the meeting for a few days to ensure this transparency,” Calugaru said.

Violeta Cojocaru, TRM SB President, pleaded to reject the postponement of the meeting not to detain the spokespersons. “Transparency is ensured not only by broadcasting the meetings live. Transparency is also ensured by publishing the minutes of the meetings and decisions taken. In addition, transparency – according to the Code of Audiovisual Media Services – consists in publishing the link in advance to inform the people about the meeting,” Violeta Cojocaru said. The head of the SB added that she did not notice the public’s increased interest in the Supervisory Board’s activity and promised that the TRM annual activity report would be broadcast online, whereas regular meetings would be broadcast if public television enabled broadcasting them. Therefore, most members voted for continuing the meeting.

Previously, Ala Ursu-Antoci, President of the BC, criticized TRM SB in view of transparency of its meetings. “Why are the meetings of the Supervisory Board not made public, why are they not broadcast directly, exactly as our meetings are? What about decision-making transparency, dear colleagues? Where is it?” Ala Ursu-Antoci asked during the BC meeting on February 16, when TRM’s annual activity report was examined. She also suggested that the BC members organized a meeting with Teleradio-Moldova representatives to discuss all the problematic issues related to TRM’s activity. The head of the BC has specified for Media Azi that, due to the pandemic, such a meeting has not taken place yet, but the initiative still remains in force.
