The chairman of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC), Marian Pocaznoi, signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of broadcasting with the chairman of Cyprus Radio and Television Authority (CRTA), BCC press service announced. The main provisions of the agreement aim at sharing experiences of the transition to digital television, and protecting minors in audiovisual programs.
Marian Pocaznoi said that this agreement will help the Moldovan side to gain valuable experience from Cypriot colleagues. “In this regard, the regulating authority of the Republic of Moldova wants to take over the experiences and practices from the regulatory authority of Cyprus regarding the transition from analogue to digital terrestrial television, as the Cypriot radio and television authority switched to this type of television as early as in 2011”, BCC chairman said.
One of the provisions of the agreement aim at protecting minors in audiovisual programs. Pocaznoi underlined the importance of the experience of the Republic of Cyprus in this field, because his country is part of the European Union and implements European directives in this regard. Previously, Pocaznoi announced that BCC is preparing a draft law designed to toughen punishment for violation of the rights of minors in audiovisual programs.
The Republic of Moldova shall undertake, by June 17, 2015, to stop analogue terrestrial television broadcasting and switch to digital terrestrial television. The program of transition to digital television, developed by the Ministry of Information Technologies, was submitted to the Government for approval.
