The Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) has chosen 12 final candidates out of 24 persons that registered to compete for the six positions in the Supervisory Board (SB) of the public company “Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM).
The chosen candidates include the program director of the radio station “Radio Moldova Actualitati” Ion Bunduchi and the executive director of the Association of Independent Press (AIP) Petru Macovei. The other persons who passed into the final stage of competition are Vasile Chirilescu, Tudor Osoianu, Nicolae Spataru, Stela Nistor, Lilian Boboc, Alexandru Leanca, Ludmila Vasilache, Lilia Gurez, and Andrei Luchianciuc.
Two of the current members of the SB, Eugen Rabca and Vitalie Tapes, also applied for competition, as their term expires on 23 December. The BCC chose only Vitalie Tapes.
The 12 candidates shall appear before the parliamentary committee for mass media, and then the Parliament is to choose six new members of the Supervisory Board.
According to a BCC decision of 2008 regarding the regulations for organizing the competition, SB membership is incompatible with the status of Member of Parliament, member of Government, or member of the BCC. The Supervisory Board is the autonomous governing body of “Teleradio-Moldova”. It is made up of nine members who are professionals in various fields.
